Cavalier™ Zoysia is the grass for you if you're looking for a sod for your Carolina lawn that hardly needs mowing. Some homeowners report only mowing Cavalier Zoysia grass a few times per year. How is this possible? Cavalier Zoysia is a fine-bladed, beautiful grass that grows very slowly vertically. It was developed by Dr. Milt Engelke and Texas A&M University to stay low to the ground, hence, less mowing.
Cavalier™ Zoysia is distinguished from other zoysiagrass by its fine texture, long, narrow leaves, with low rhizome, but high density stolon production. It has good to excellent salt tolerance, and good shade tolerance.
Cavalier™ Zoysia is resistant to the fall armyworm and the tropical sod webworm. Cavalier™ is intermediate in its growth and recovery rate. Cavalier™ has good-excellent winter hardiness and will persist in regions north of Kansas, Missouri, and Southern Illinois as well as in the southern states. Cavalier™ is rated number one in the NTEP trials over 3 years.
Cavalier™ Zoysia will find its primary utility in residential lawns, golf course fairways and tee boxes, and in parks, sports fields, or other recreational areas.
Cavalier™ Zoysia has been identified by several golf course architects as the future grass of choice for golf course fairways in the cool season- warm season transition zone. A patented variety, unauthorized propagation is prohibited.
